A Studio Built on Imagination, Ecology, and Urgency
Ukiyo Habitat was born from a shared restlessness — with the way cities were being shaped, with landscapes being reduced to visuals, and with the silence around ecological time.
Design Is Not Just What We Build — It's What We Question.
At Ukiyo Habitat, our design process begins with curiosity. We start by listening to the land itself—to the lone Peepal tree in a concrete jungle, or the memory of a drying lake. This is where our questions begin.
Our Approach
We treat every site as a living system — shaped by water, memory, people, and time.
Every brief becomes an opportunity to challenge assumptions. In a landscape marked by increasing urbanization and shrinking green spaces, we adapt to local ecology and co-create spaces that evolve with changing climates, communities, and contexts.
Our Design Framework
Observe, Collaborate, Reimagine
Observe
We begin by deeply understanding the site, its context, and the people who will inhabit it. Every detail matters.
Collaborate
We work closely with communities, stakeholders, and experts to co-create solutions that truly serve their needs.
Reimagine
We push boundaries to create innovative, sustainable solutions that transform spaces and enrich lives.

Our Philosophy in Action
Velachery Railway Ground – Chennai
A neglected transit-edge landscape reimagined as a climate-responsive public space — where rain becomes play, flood becomes memory, and edges become connections.
Bandhavgarh Wildlife Edge Design
Designing not just a boundary wall, but a relationship — between human and wild. Our approach used native vegetation, non-invasive fences, and landscape as transition.
We don't just design for outcomes. We design to ask better questions.
